I was asked to photograph a legacy recipe for a third-generation pasta maker preparing to pass his business to his daughter. The request was simple: make the quiet work visible. Over two days, I documented every step, the flour mixing, the resting, the cutting, the shaping, all captured between 5AM and noon, in full natural light. The images were later sequenced into a private editorial record, gifted to the family and archived for exhibition. The dish was tagliatelle, hand-rolled from 00 flour and eggs brought in that morning nothing plated, nothing styled, just honest work, photographed in motion.
All 43 final images were shot on film and scanned in Rome before delivery. Selections from this session were later requested for publication in Il Forno: Traditions in Italian Baking (Vol. IV), Fall 2024.

We hired Renzo for a concept launch, but the result was more than content. It was a record of our ethos—visualized. He worked quietly, intuitively, and never once directed us. Instead, he read the space. Every image he delivered felt like it had always existed—like he’d simply uncovered it rather than created it. That’s the difference: the work felt authored, not captured.
